Derypol Awards Ceremony 2011

Last October 2011, coinciding with the international year of chemistry, Derypol organized the contest called "Chemistry helps the environment" where the students of the High Schools Lauro and El Til·ler from Les Franqueses del Vallès (Barcelona) participated preparing a group project about how chemistry can contribute taking care of the environment. The projects would be later assessed and both the winners and the High Schools would receive an award.

Once thoroughly evaluated the different projects of the students of both High Schools by Derypol representatives and by various teachers, last December 21st of 2011 the awards' ceremony delivery took place in both centres. The winner groups were awarded with an mp4 for each team member and both schools received some monetary contribution. There was a tie between two projects in the High School Lauro and both groups were awarded. The topics covered by the projects were the use of activated carbon as a means of purifying water and gas, and biofuels as a source of clean energy. The winner project from the High School El Til·ler was called: The path towards clean production which explains the improvements introduced by the chemical sector in terms of saving resources and lessening the impact of their activities.
